About Me

About Rebecca Vials

Greetings! I’m Rebecca Vials, and my professional journey has been an exciting blend of counseling, neuroscience research, and data science, all driven by a passion for mental health advocacy and holistic wellbeing.

The Beginning

My journey commenced with a Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, where I delved into the complexities of human psychology and behavior. This foundation led me to specialise in addiction and trauma counseling, where I had the privilege of supporting individuals through their recovery journeys.

Postgraduate Exploration

Eager to expand my knowledge, I pursued postgraduate studies at King’s College London, focusing on the Psychology and Neuroscience of Mental Health. This academic pursuit opened doors to the world of research, where I applied my skills in statistical analysis and data science to investigate pressing issues such as gambling addiction among young people. My research shed light on the silent epidemic of gambling-related suicides and the dual diagnosis of addiction alongside mental health disorders.

Venturing into Neuroscience

Driven by a curiosity for the inner workings of the brain, my research journey extended into the neuroscience of education, exploring how understanding brain function can inform more effective teaching methods. This exploration eventually led me to wider research endeavors supporting the civil service, where I contributed insights to inform policy and decision-making.

The Intersection of Data and Well-being

My tenure at the Office for National Statistics marked a pivotal shift towards a more data-focused career path. Leveraging my counseling and neuroscience background, I became an advocate for workplace well-being, recognising the crucial role of mental health in overall productivity and satisfaction. Through data-driven initiatives and advocacy efforts, I championed mental health awareness and implemented strategies to promote wellbeing in the workplace.

Let’s Connect

I’m incredibly passionate about leveraging my diverse expertise to make a positive impact in the realms of mental health and wellbeing. Whether it’s through research collaborations, advocacy endeavors, or simply connecting with like-minded individuals, I’m excited to continue this journey of growth and impact together. Let’s connect and explore how we can contribute to a healthier, happier world!
